We are pleased to announce that our club has hired a part-time Program Manager, Omar Navarro-Ramirez.  Coach Omar comes to us with years of coaching and team management experience, including being the assistant coach at Southern Oregon University (SOU).  At SOU he honed his skills heading up department operations and being the lead goalkeeper coach.  He is also the head coach at Rogue Valley Timbers and has been a Camp Director at PTFC Camps. Currently a candidate for the USSF C license and planning to reach the highest-level coaching education possible.  Coach Omar comments, “I coach because I am passionate about soccer and most importantly mentoring young individuals.”

With roots in SE Portland’s Lents Neighborhood, he started his soccer career at 4 years old and has played at local clubs throughout his upbringing, including with PCU and Washington Timbers.  After graduating from Benson High School, he went on to play soccer collegiately at Lane Community College, where he was a standout defender, and then eventually transferred to Southern Oregon University to finish his bachelor’s degree in human physiology.

When asked what his favorite professional team and player is?  Omar says, “My favorite soccer team is Chivas de Guadalajara, and my favorite current soccer player is Messi. I love watching Premier League soccer; however, I don’t support one single team.”  And he says “In my free time, my favorite activity (still) is to play soccer, take my puppy Luna to the dog park, and cook delicious homemade meals.”
