On Oct 9, 2023, North Portland Soccer Club, in partnership with Playbook Sports, held our inaugural “NOPO night” at Providence Park Field. Over 500 boys and girls on our U7 to U14 teams played matches on the same pitch as our beloved Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns, while friends and family cheered from the stands. 

The energy and excitement in Providence Park was incredible, with laughter and a smiles all around. The event highlighted our city’s love of soccer and displayed the strong NOPO soccer community we have become.  Whether they were scoring goals like Sophia Smith, playing master of the midfield like Diego Chara, or diving for one-handed saves that would make Bella Bixbie proud, every player had the opportunity to walk in the shoes of their heroes for one evening. 

With deepest appreciation, NOPO club soccer club thanks our volunteer coaches, who organized their team’s participation, and thank you to the friends and family who showed up to support the players.  Together you created an electic atmosphere that our young players will never forget!  Also, a big shout out to the Timbers and Thorns organizations for making professional soccer more accessible to our Portland youth and building community pride in our soccer city.
