ABOUT OUR CLUB

Our mission & visioN

North Portland Soccer Club’s Vision is to be a cornerstone of Portland's soccer community, while supporting the entire individual of every member of the program. Our mission is to serve our diverse community through building interest in youth soccer and making it more accessible. We provide a safe and fun environment for players to develop skills that help them find solutions to challenges they face both on and off the field. To us, soccer is more than just a sport - it’s an opportunity for youth to gain tangible leadership skills, value fair play, understand collaboration and teamwork, and to grow and learn

Guiding Principles

  1. Have Fun - Both for players and volunteers

  2. Teach Teamwork and Fair Play - Building the foundation for future leaders in our community

  3. Embody Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility - This shows up in how we do outreach, build policies, and create programs

  4. Foster Learning and Growth - Creating a culture where learning is celebrated

  5. Cultivate Collaboration - Partnerships and working together make us stronger

  6. Play Soccer - We see soccer as a means to build community, teach teamwork, and build global connections

  7. Be Sustainable and Use Responsible Nonprofit Practices - We believe in our mission and want to see it live beyond the current board.

WHo we servE

North Portland Soccer Club serves youth ages 5–14 across North Portland, expanding access to affordable, community-based recreational soccer. As a partner of the Portland Youth Soccer Association (PYSA), NPSC is committed to creating inclusive opportunities for kids to play, connect, and grow through the game. The club prioritizes placing players with their classmates and friends to strengthen relationships and foster a sense of belonging. Practices are held on neighborhood fields through a partnership with Portland Parks and Recreation, ensuring soccer remains accessible, local, and rooted in the community it serves.

Volunteers

Volunteers are paramount to the success and operation of our club! North Portland Soccer Club is always looking for parent and community involvement.  Please inquire with omar@northportlandsoccer.com if you are interested in volunteer opportunities, including coaching. We look forward to seeing you on the field soon!

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Statement

North Portland Soccer Club is committed to being a welcoming, joyful, and safe space for every child. We are focused on creating an inclusive environment where youth, across all races, cultures, ethnicities, languages, abilities, gender identities, family structures, and immigration backgrounds, feel valued, respected, and supported. As an organization, we acknowledge the historical, structural, and racial exclusions to communities of color that have impacted their access to youth sports and parks.

We actively work to remove barriers to participation by prioritizing access, affordability, and culturally responsive practices. Our programs strive to meet families where they are, recognizing that equity means providing different levels of support so every child has the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive. Examples of ways we are working to do this include:

  • We are in the scheduling phase to offer training in trauma-informed care and anti-racism to our coaches in 2026, and we are working on a strategy to recruit coaches and volunteers who reflect the diversity of our North Portland community.

  • We reduce financial barriers by offering free gear exchanges, uniform scholarships, and need-based financial aid so cost is never a reason a child cannot play.

  • We invest in intentional outreach and relationship-building with families to ensure our programs are accessible, welcoming, and responsive to community needs.

NPSC fosters a culture of belonging on and off the field by promoting teamwork, empathy, and respect among players, coaches, volunteers, and families. We are dedicated to ongoing learning and reflection to better serve our diverse North Portland community and to ensure soccer is a means for connection, confidence, and belonging for all.

Annual Report

2025 Annual Report

This past year marked an exciting period of growth and momentum for NOPO Soccer Club. In Fall 2025, we celebrated record-high enrollment, a milestone that reflects the strength of our programming and the trust families place in our club. We expanded outreach to schools with historically lower participation, helping remove barriers and ensure more youth across North Portland see soccer as a space where they belong. We also launched new summer programming, including our She Scores camp for middle school girls, creating intentional opportunities for leadership development, confidence-building, and skill growth both on and off the field. Together, these efforts strengthened our operations, deepened our community partnerships, and positioned NPSC for continued sustainable growth.
