Futsal (U7-U14)
Program Important Message
Due to limited court availability, spots for our Futsal program are very restricted. Last winter we enrolled 17 teams and had just enough court time for each to practice once a week for one hour. Indoor space is in very high demand during the winter months, with multiple sports sharing the same facilities. Based on what we expect this year, we will again be able to accommodate around 17 teams, or approximately 170 youth. For context, our Fall soccer program serves 43 teams and more than 700 players.
This year, Futsal enrollment will be organized at the team level through Fall coaches. Coaches will collect interest from their players, submit headcount’s to our Program Director, and confirm if they plan to enter a team. Once teams are confirmed, individual players will still register under their coach’s team. Because our coaches are also volunteers, not all may have the capacity to continue into the winter season. Talking with your coach early is the best way to secure a spot for your child. If your Fall coach is unavailable, another parent stepping in to coach a Futsal team may make participation possible.
It’s also important to know that Futsal is a faster and more challenging version of soccer, played in tighter spaces. Even in the recreational division, there can be a noticeable skill gap between new players and those with experience. For this reason, we recommend that participants have at least two years of soccer experience before joining. This helps ensure players can learn, stay engaged, and enjoy the game.
Program Overview
Futsal is a game with constant pressure that exponentially improves the technical abilities of players. We believe skills learned in Futsal will directly translate to soccer. North Portland Soccer Club’s Futsal program is an intended to give recreational players an opportunity to play soccer indoors in a fun and safe environment. This program is specific for children in 1st-8th grade. Our Futsal Program is in partnership with Rose City Futsal (RCF) and all games will be played at their facilities.

What if my child has never played Futsal before?
That is okay as long as they have at least two years of soccer experience. How much does it cost?
$160 Registration fee.Is a Rose City Futsal membership included in the registration fee?
No an RCF membership is not included in the registration fee. Memberships can be purchased at RCF for $20 before the start of the season or at the first game.
Why is the Futsal program more expensive than the Fall and Spring Rec?
Futsal is more costly to operate for several reasons. First, league fees and court rentals are nearly double the cost of our outdoor Fall and Spring programs. The season also runs longer, with a guaranteed eight games. On top of that, futsal teams are smaller, which means fewer players are sharing the overall expenses. All of these factors together create a higher financial impact compared to our outdoor programs.
