New Uniform FAQ

Overview of partnerships with Darigold and Adidas
This year (2025), we were fortunate to renew Darigold as a major sponsor and renew Adidas as a brand partner. The timing of these agreements worked out well. Darigold recently rebranded and required their updated logo on our uniforms, while Adidas requires a two-year uniform cycle for partner clubs. By aligning both contracts at the same time, we avoided the risk of needing new uniforms every year, which is something we would not have agreed to. We continue to pursue these partnerships since they directly fund our scholarship program and allow us to expand outreach. For example, this past spring we fully funded an entire team of 18 players at George Middle School, all of whom identify as low-income and BIPOC. We’ve also been able to do targeted outreach in schools like Cesar Chavez, Rosa Parks, and George Middle School, and have welcomed new families into NOPO who previously had never been able to participate. This is all thanks to the School Champions that we have hired who are doing great work in our barrier mitigation program.

Why are our jerseys more expensive?
Our current jerseys are being discontinued, which naturally increases cost. Major brands like Adidas and Nike typically release a style for 2 to 4 years, then phase it out. The style recommended to us by Tursi’s is the most affordable option that will remain in production through our cycle, which also ensures uniform consistency across our club. Many other clubs using Adidas will soon face the same transition.

Do we really need a white jersey?
Yes, under our brand contract we are required to provide both a home and away jersey.

Who benefits from the jersey fee?
Our club does not see any of the money from jersey purchases, since that all flows through Tursi’s. However, as mentioned above, the partnerships we have with Adidas and Darigold (who have established requirements via our contracts with them) have enabled us to more than double our scholarships over the last 2 years.

If we want to keep NOPO accessible, why add a $60 uniform fee?
We recognize that uniforms are an added cost, which is why we’ve made sure they are not a barrier. Every scholarship recipient receives a uniform at no cost through our partnership with the Timbers Army 107 supporters group, who have generously supported this effort for years. Other families who may be able to afford the registration fee, but can’t afford the uniform costs also qualify for a uniform scholarship. We do not ask for income verification. All we ask is that families email me so that I can add them to the uniform scholarship list we maintain with Tursi’s.
